"It is possible that river levels may affect Arpley Road under the railway bridge," it continues, adding: "We are expecting higher than normal tides over the next 4 days and as a result we may issue further flood alerts and flood warnings.
"We currently do not anticipate the Flood Alert level to be met during the high tide tomorrow afternoon 09/09/2025. Our incident rooms are open and we are closely monitoring the situation. Avoid using low lying footpaths and any bridges near local watercourses and do not attempt to walk or drive through flood water."
Another flood alert has been issued for Wyre estuary from Fleetwood and Knott End to Little Eccleston in Lancashire.
The alert read: "High tides overnight may lead to flooding. Highest tide level is expected to be at Tiger's Tail, Wyre Dock, Burrow's Marsh, Burn Naze, Thornton, Trunnah, Stanah, Poulton-le-Fylde, Skippool, Hambleton, Cold Row, Little Singleton, Little Eccleston and Crow Woods at 12:00 midnight on 08/09/2025. Flooding is possible 2 hours either side of this time.
"Areas most at risk are low lying land and roads near rivers or on the coast. Further flooding is possible tomorrow due to higher than normal tides at midday 09/09/2025 and the following midnight.
"We are closely monitoring the situation and liaising with emergency services and local authorities. Stay away from floodwater - it contains hidden dangers such as open manhole covers, sewage and chemicals."
Other flood alerts covering Heysham, the Lune estuary near Lancaster Morecombe Bay have also been published. All are linked to high tides.
It comes just a week after the official start of meteorological autumn, with the Met Office warning of "unsettled" weather over the next weeks.
Met Office forecasters say tonight there will showers in parts of the north west although these are expected to fade away through this evening and overnight with most places becoming dry with lengthy clear periods.
Tomorrow is forecast to be a mostly dry day, with plenty of sunny spells. However, there remains a small chance of an isolated afternoon or evening shower with temperatures topping 21C.
The rest of the week is forecast to be a changeable period with sunny spells and blustery showers, says the Met Office.
The showers are expected to be frequent and occasionally heavy as temperatures turn cooler.
