EASTERN IDAHO -- The Marsh Valley girls basketball team earned an upset win on the road, over American Falls Tuesday night, to advance into the winner's bracket of the 4A District 5 playoff bracket.
The Beavers finished the regular season with an 11-10 overall record -- 4-2 in the South East Idaho Conference -- to earn the two-seed and a first-round home game. But the three-seeded Eagles (11-11, 2-4), who lost both of their regular season matchups with American Falls, pulled off a 49-38 win.
Marsh Valley will now go to the No. 1-seeded Bear Lake Bears (18-3, 6-0) for a second-round showdown, Thursday. The Bears won their two regular season matchups with the Eagles by a combined 59 points.
Bear Lake beat the Snake River Panthers (0-22, 0-6), 59-36, Tuesday to earn their spot in the winner's bracket. The Panthers will face American Falls Thursday, with the winner advancing to face the loser of the Bear Lake-Marsh Valley matchup. The losing team's season will be over.
Here is a rundown of the other District 5 and 6 brackets.
D5-6
No. 1 Rockland beat No. 8 North Gem, 51-18, and will face No. 4 Leadore in the second round. Leadore earned their spot in the second with a 68-22 win over No. 5 Sho-Ban.
No. 3 Mackay beat No. 6 Grace Lutheran, 53-22. They will face N0. 2 Challis, who beat No. 7 Taylor's Crossing, 42-16.
1A second-round games will be played Saturday, with the higher seed hosting.
D5-6
With a 70-4 victory over No. 3 Alturas Prep, Grace advanced to face No. 1 Butte County Thursday night at Thunder Ridge.
No. 4 West Side beat No. 5 Declo, 43-23, at home Tuesday night to earn a Thursday matchup at No. 1 Malad -- who enjoyed a first-round bye.
No. 2 Soda Springs also took the first-round bye, and will now host No. 3 Wendell, who beat No. 6 Aberdeen, 43-22, Tuesday.
Declo and Aberdeen will await the losers of the second round games. Winners in the third round of games will advance to face the second-round winers, while the losers will be eliminated.

No. 1 Ririe advanced on a 64-24 victory over No. 5 Salmon, Monday, and now enjoy an extended break -- the Bulldogs will not play again until Friday, to face the winner of a Wednesday game between No. 2 Firth and No. 4 West Jefferson.
Firth had a round-one bye, while West Jefferson scored an upset victory over No. 3 North Fremont.
Salmon and North Fremont will now face off in the loser's bracket, with the loser eliminated and the winner advancing to face the loser of Firth-West Jefferson.
D5
Massive favorite, No. 1 Pocatello, will face No. 2 Preston in the second round following a first-round bye. Preston beat No. 3 Century, 48-30, Tuesday.
Thursday's winner between Preston and Pocatello will advance to the district finals, while the loser will face Century for the right to a rematch in the finals.
D6
No. 3 Hillcrest beats No. 6 Bonneville, 67-31, Tuesday, and will now face No. 2 Blackfoot on the road Thursday.
No. 4 Shelley bested No. 5 Idaho Falls, 54-49, also on Tuesday. They will go to Skyline Thursday, to face the No. 1 Grizzlies.
Round-two winners will advance to the finals, with the winner getting an automatic state berth. Losers will drop into the loser's bracket, with Idaho Falls and Bonneville. A second state berth awaits the winner of runner-up bracket.
D4-5-6
With a 68-22 Tuesday victory over No. 5 Canyon Ridge, No. 1 Rigby moved directly into the district semis, where the will face the winner of No. 3 Thunder Ridge at No. 2 Madison.
The Titans beats No. 4 Highland, 55-34, Tuesday to earn the winner's bracket spot. Madison had a round-one bye.
Canyon Ridge will play the Rams at Highland on Thursday, with the loser going hime and the winner moving on to face the loser of the Madison-Thunder Ridge game.
The girls basketball state tournaments will be held in the Boise area, Feb. 20-22.
