Walmart surprises Augusta firefighters with Super Bowl food

AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) - The Super Bowl is Sunday, and while you may be watching the game, firefighters are working.

On Thursday, Walmart marked Firefighter Appreciation Week in Georgia with a surprise for them.

Walmart said it was presenting Augusta firefighters at 20 department stations with wings, smoked sausages, rolls, chips and much more.

We heard from the soon-to-be firefighter of the year on why the surprise matters.

"We share so much together -- holidays, life events. We watch the games together, so we spend a lot of time together. It's like being with your family. So, being able to sit like you would at home with your family and friends is kind of how we live our lives," said Evan Scureman.

Walmart's bundle includes everything needed for eight people, which is around the staffing at any time at most fire stations.
