EastIdahoNews.com is partnering with Ashley and Ashley Outlet of Idaho Falls to honor people in our community for Feel Good Friday. Every week, we surprise someone deserving of special recognition.
We recently received an email about a woman who is spending countless hours building a Rugby program in eastern Idaho. It said:
Kayce has been on a mission single-handedly to introduce and grow teen Rugby in southeast Idaho. The team's name is Rush Rugby. She began coaching the girls' team several years ago, and began a boys' team just last year. She has spent countless selfless hours and her own money to establish and educate kids as well as the community.
She spends endless hours scheduling, getting out gear, washing uniforms, coordinating fundraisers and rounding up parents to get the necessary support. If anything ever falls short, she picks it up.
There are currently 40 high school students part of the Rush Rugby team. Team members are required to provide their own funding to play. The team travels all over to areas such as Boise, Montana and Washington to play established teams.
Kayce's ethics, dedication, knowledge and enthusiasm are contagious. Her greatest joy is to teach these kids sportsmanship, team bonding, and to "give it and leave it on the field." She teaches the kids life skills they can carry forever. Her coaching lifts the kids and provides them with a sense of worth and love. Team bonding and community are a huge part of the team. Every week the kids have a team bonding activity as well as a community activity. They give time giving back to the community, volunteering to clean trash, or help others in need. Their team bond is carried on the field as well as off, always being there for each other.
We decided to honor Kaybe for Feel Good Friday and thank her for what she's done. Watch in the video player above.
