Agrokoncernas Group seeks strategic partner

Recognized as one of Europe's most innovative agricultural companies, the Agrokoncernas Group is pursuing a deep grain processing plant project valued at over €300 million.

The project is strategically located in a prime location and will lead to the creation of one of the most modern plants in the world, integrating innovative energy solutions.

The plant would process around 500,000 tonnes of wheat annually. The grain supply will be secured by Agrokoncerno Grūdai, the Group's leading grain trading company in Northern Europe, which handles and exports around 1.5 million tonnes of grain annually - approximately 20% of Lithuania's total grain harvest.

Reliable raw material supply and storage will be ensured through the Group's extensive network of grain elevators in Lithuania, offering a combined storage capacity exceeding 900,000 tonnes.

The production process of the plant will consist of: grain milling, wet process - separation of starch, gluten and pentosans, drying of starch and gluten, packaging of products, ethanol production, feed production and packaging and waste water treatment.

The deep wheat processing plant will primarily produce starch and gluten with applications in the food, paper and biopolymer industries.

Advanced products such as bio-ethanol, technical ethanol, bio-genic CO, and dried distillers grains are made from production by-products, adding value and ensuring sustainability, with further processing options being explored.

Mr. Ramūnas Karbauskis, owner of Agrokoncernas Group, emphasises that the deep grain processing plant is designed to meet the highest standards of sustainability, environmental friendliness, and safety, with top-quality equipment from renowned suppliers like Bühler, Flottweg, and others.

Karbauskis says that the plant will be unparalleled in Europe. Its design focuses on maximising energy efficiency and supporting the Green Deal. The plant will operate on circular economy principles, ensuring zero waste production.

"This project requires significant investment, so we aim for the highest quality standards from the start, addressing challenges and finding solutions. This plant will be unique in Europe, as only 2-3 year-old plants have similar technology. We are designing it with the future in mind, featuring full automation, the latest technology, and AI potential, which has never been seen before," he said.

The biomethane production solutions at the plant will ensure efficient resource use, maximising product competitiveness. A future wind farm is also planned on Group-owned land, supplying the plant with renewable energy and allowing surplus electricity to be fed into the national grid.

The deep grain processing plant project will be strategically located to benefit from excellent infrastructure, including convenient road access, a railway line, and proximity to Klaipėda Seaport, facilitating trade with over 70 countries worldwide.

The area has already been explored for its water resources, ensuring that the water required for continuous operation is supplied in a stable and sustainable way. The plant will be equipped with state-of-the-art wastewater and air treatment facilities, and much of the water flow will be reused in production.

This initiative will support the decarbonisation of the grain processing sector and contribute to broader sustainable development goals.

The plant will employ around 250 highly qualified, engineering specialists to ensure its smooth operation and the safety of its processes. The project could generate an annual turnover of around €200 million.

The Agrokoncernas Group is looking for a strategic investor to collaborate in developing one of the world's most advanced and competitive deep grain processing centres.

Europe's Largest and Most Modern Cow Farm Complex

This is not the only project being developed by the Group. Construction of Europe's largest and most modern dairy cow complex was launched in spring 2024. The 8-hectare complex of buildings will be used to breed almost 10,000 cattle, including 4,000 dairy cows.

The investment project, worth over €80 million, will be implemented according to exceptional animal welfare and circular economy standards.

The cow farm complex will occupy 53 hectares. Daily production of raw milk is expected to exceed 140 tonnes and annual production will exceed 51,000 tonnes.

The Group's dairy farms currently have around 4,000 dairy cows. The construction of four more new complexes, for which land has already been purchased, with the existing herds of cows, would result in the production of up to 800 tonnes of raw milk per day.

The modern cow farm complex, integrating new technological solutions, will start operations at the beginning of 2026.

This next-generation dairy farm will contribute to the overall reduction of fossil fuel use, reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and contribute to the circular economy.

The next step in the strategic development is a dairy processing plant, which will be fully supplied by the Group's farms.

Agrokoncernas Group, a leader in the agricultural sector in the Baltics, has built up a synergy of businesses over more than 30 years of operation, which ensures stability, and the long-standing experience it has gained allows it to develop innovative projects.

The Group owns the only certified private scientific unit of its kind, the Innovation and Research Centre AgroITC, with over 5,000 test plots nationwide. Major European companies conduct various production tests here. Experienced specialists seek cost-effective solutions for growing healthy produce and share their knowledge with farmers across the country.

The Agrokoncernas Group includes more than 50 companies involved in the provision of services to farmers for the production, trade, export and processing of agricultural products.

"For the first time in the Group's history, we are open to partnerships and investors in order to implement ambitious projects. We have ambitious projects of national significance that would create a cost-effective and sustainable business model," says the owner and sold shareholder of Agrokoncernas Group.
