At this point, I just need Katie Holmes to share her outfit details every time she leaves the house.
When she stepped out on March 4 in a pair of brown woven ballet flats, I immediately started searching because I knew I needed them for spring. Luckily, I found exactly what I was looking for: Holmes wore Dune London's Heat Ballet Flats, which cost $109, according to the brand's Instagram, marking them as yet another pair of affordable shoes the star has worn.
She also had on a fuzzy turtleneck sweater, an Oprah-approved style, and some baggy black jeans that looked comfortable, cool, and casual to wear for a walk around the city.
I don't think I've purchased a pair of shoes in the last two years that weren't flats. I find them chic and, at times, more comfortable than even sneakers. (Last summer when I was abroad and walking miles and miles every day, my flats were the only shoes that didn't hurt my shins.)
Her $109 pair is certainly within my budget, but I did my due diligence before impulse buying. This $30 pair also has my favorite element -- bows -- and comes in a brighter color that matches more styles in my wardrobe. Meanwhile, this pair from Amazon is a woven Mary Jane style, which is pretty much the same as a ballet flat but with an extra strap on the top. As for this Quince pair, the upper is so distinctive since it lays higher up on the foot's surface.
Holmes was dressed for winter, as evidenced by her warm turtleneck sweater. But I know what you're thinking: Shouldn't I be preparing for spring fashion? Well, the beginning days of spring can be cold, too. TL;DR: A high-neck topper isn't something to rule out quite yet (though I did also find a low-neck option for you).
This Madewell pick was practically made for transitional weather. It covers the chest and neck yet has a pretty pointelle that should surely be breezier than something more closed-off. The bright blue is also springy and sweet for Easter.
Holmes' denim was on the baggier side, meaning they should feel more like low-key pajama pants rather than tight leggings. This pair from Nordstrom looks breathable and laid-back yet still has long lines that lengthen the look of your legs. They come in sizes 0 to 14 and cost under $75 to boot.
