3 Quick Facts About Lauren Daigle, Performing "America the Beautiful" at the Super Bowl

The Super Bowl is about so much more than football. This year's matchup boasts a highly-anticipated halftime show led by highly decorated rapper Kendrick Lamar. Additionally, GRAMMY-winning New Orleans native Jon Batiste will perform the national anthem ahead of the matchup between the Kansas City Chiefs and the Philadelphia Eagles. Contemporary Christian singer Lauren Daigle is also participating in the pre-game ceremony, singing "America the Beautiful." Here are three things you should know about Daigle ahead of Sunday's (Feb. 9) big game at Caesars Superdome.

Lauren Daigle was born in Lake Charles, Louisiana, roughly 30 miles west of the Texas state line.Growing up in Lafayette, she spent two years at Louisiana State University before dropping out to pursue music full time.

Performing with New Orleans musician Trombone Shorty, Daigle says her rendition of "America the Beautiful" may sound a little different than what viewers are used to. They plan to infuse the patriotic tune with their home state's unique flavor.

"It's a very rhythmic version," Daigle told USA Today. "It will make you want to dance."

Lauren Daigle debuted atop the Billboard Christian Albums Chart with her first album, 2015's How Can It Be. Eventually attaining a platinum certification, the record successfully crossed over onto the all-genre Top Albums Chart.

Fast forward three years, and Daigle found herself at No. 3 on the Billboard Hot 200 with her third album, Look Up Child. Receiving two GRAMMY Awards, Look Up Child became the highest-charting Christian album by a woman in over 20 years.

In 2023, Lauren Daigle partnered with the nonprofit Music Health Alliance to provide healthcare support and resources to senior citizens working in the music industry. The Music Health Alliance's Senior Care Support program helps cover costs for prescriptions, rehab services, preventative care, and other healthcare needs for people working in the music industry who are 65 or older.

"This is one of those moments where we get to love on people that might not feel loved, that may not feel seen, that might feel like they're the forgotten generation," the "First" singer said of the program. "We're the ones that get to go and say, no. There are still people that believe in you. There are still people that love you."
