SAN ANTONIO (WOAI/KABB) -- Legacy Traditional School in Alamo Ranch is on a mission to break a Guinness World Record using 42,000 Lego bricks.
The school began its ambitious project earlier this week, aiming to surpass the previous record by more than 22,000 bricks. The effort involves a team of four builders, including the school's principal, two district representatives, and a current Lego world record holder.
To ensure the attempt is official, two witnesses must be present at all times, as per Guinness World Records guidelines.
Principal Eddie Woods shared the excitement surrounding the project.
"Oh, they were excited. We had some of our younger kids come through, and their eyes were just wide, and they were just wanting to do it. And these kids were just excited, and when I offered them, 'Hey, do you want to come and do this?' and they were like, 'Yeah, we do,' and it's just really fun for our students," Woods said.
The school expects to complete the project by Friday afternoon, but official confirmation from Guinness World Records will not arrive until the end of the month. Meanwhile, a replica of the record-breaking structure, crafted by the students, will remain on display at the school throughout the year.
