Benefit planned for Grant Gunderson

Benefit planned for Grant Gunderson

The community is invited to attend a benefit in honor of Grant Gunderson, a 10-year-old boy from Prior Lake who is undergoing chemotherapy after the removal of a brain tumor.

Last May Grant was diagnosed with Medulloblastoma, a highly malignant cancer. Grant's tumor has been completely removed and he has now begun year-long radiation and chemotherapy treatments.

The treatment plan prescribed by doctors is a special radiation therapy available in select cities in the United States. The closest location for Grant is in Chicago. As a result, the Gunderson family has been commuting to Illinois for extended stays during the treatments.

On Sunday, Aug. 19, Friends of the Gundersons, "Team Gundy," will host a benefit at the Prior Lake VFW for the family to raise funds to help cover medical bills and other expenses. The event will include a spaghetti dinner, silent and live auction, DJ and Team Gundy wristbands for sale. Dinner will be served from 5 to 7:30 p.m. with live and silent auction events to follow hosted by Muss from K102.

Donations can be sent to Wells Fargo, Grant Gunderson Benefit Fund. Silent Auction donations can be directed to Laura Curtler at (612) 618-2328 or r.curtler@mchsi.com.
