Smoke from controlled burn in Redding aims to reduce wildfire risk

REDDING, Calif. -- Residents near Barbara Lane may notice smoke in the area, but there's no cause for alarm.

The City of Redding Parks and Fire Department have joined forces to conduct a controlled burn of dead and downed vegetation in the greenbelt between Barbara and Lost Lane.

This strategic burn is intended to significantly reduce fuel loads and mitigate the potential impact of wildfires on the surrounding community. It also aims to create defensible space and a safer environment for firefighters during emergency responses.

The Redding Fire Department expressed gratitude to the City's Parks Department for their significant efforts in fostering a fire-safe community.
