ATHENS, OH - Darayus Sethna, a senior journalism news and information major with minors in Spanish, sports management, and coaching education, is excited to start his sports media career after graduation this spring utilizing what he has learned at Ohio University and WOUB.
"My favorite part of the job is the people," Sethna noted. "Everyone I've worked with at WOUB has been incredibly supportive of my work and growth throughout my time here. That is what motivates me to continue contributing to the station and giving my best effort."
Sethna began his WOUB journey during his freshman year and has become a well-rounded multimedia sports reporter. Primarily working as a reporter and contributor for WOUB's The Bobcat Sports Showcase, Sethna has learned how to merge his sports knowledge with journalism. He has also worked on NewsWatch, Gridiron Glory, SportsBeat and The Outlet.
Hailing from Macedonia, Ohio, Sethna chose Ohio University after visiting the E.W. Scripps School of Journalism in the summer of 2020.
"I realized the amazing hands-on experience that I'd get if I came to Ohio University and how I could reach my full potential in doing so," he said.
One of Sethna's favorite collegiate memories was covering his first homecoming football game for WOUB.
"I loved being a part of the atmosphere, and more notably, it felt great to have the trust of the sports directors at that time to come with them to cover that game as a sophomore."
As his time as a Bobcat and at WOUB ends, Sethna appreciates the support he's been able to get and the experiential learning opportunities available at WOUB. He encourages underclassmen to get as involved as they can in any organizations that speak to them.
"Don't be afraid to dive right into whatever you want to pursue!"
