'The U' Goes Sky High Over WNBA Telecasts | Radio & Television Business Report

The 2021 WNBA Champion Chicago Sky are heading to broadcast television in the Windy City, thanks to a freshly inked deal with Weigel Broadcasting.

The team has signed an exclusive broadcast partnership with the company's unaffiliated TV station in Chicago, WCIU-26 "The U."

The station, Weigel's flagship property, will provide live television broadcasts of more than 30 Sky games during the upcoming season. Games will be available via streaming and linear platforms.

"We are thrilled to partner with Weigel to broaden Chicago Sky's local and regional broadcast coverage and make it easier for fans to find and view games over the air and across WCIU," said Adam Fox. "We thank Weigel for their incredible support of the Chicago Sky and look forward to partnering with them to bring outstanding Sky content to fans."

Weigel SVP Steve Farber added, "Basketball fans in Chicago and throughout the Midwest will be able to watch the WNBA's best on broadcast television and across viewing platforms."

The Sky's local broadcast schedule for the 2025 WNBA season will be released at a later date.

Weigel will be working with additional broadcast companies to expand free over-the-air access of Sky games in television markets beyond the Chicagoland area.
