The Chiefs and Eagles' Super Bowl matchup isn't the only big game Sunday. Puppy Bowl XXI will once again feature puppies at play.

"Animal Planet's Puppy Bowl serves as an annual pop culture programming event that continues to expand in reach, awareness, and, of course, puppies, every year," Chief Creative Officer of U.S. Networks and President of Discovery Networks Howard Lee said in the press release. "Win or lose, Puppy Bowl XXI will have the cutest players in the game on Sunday, February 9, and will inspire families across the country to adopt a new furry friend."

Per Animal Planet, Puppy Bowl XXI will feature 142 rescue puppies in the competition, which hail from from 80 pet shelters across 40 states and two countries. In addition, the Puppy Bowl will highlight the dogs' stories from birth to adoption where they found their forever homes.
Puppy Bowl XXI will feature a pair of special guests from the world of feature films as James Gunn -- the writer, director and producer of Warner Bros.' Superman remake -- will be on hand with his dog, Ozu.
According to the press release, Ozu inspired Gunn to include Krypto the Superdog in Gunn's new Superman movie, which stars David Corenswet as Clark Kent/The Man of Steel. The film, which will be released in theaters on July 11, also stars Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane, Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor and Milly Alcock as Kara Zor-El, aka Supergirl.
In addition to delivering a special message with Ozu during Puppy Bowl XXI, Gunn will offer a sneak peek of Superman. Also, one of the puppy participants will be presented with the "Krypto Super Play" award.
