CT-Born Actress To Announce Oscar Nominations With 'SNL' Star

An up-and-coming Connecticut comedic actress who has had a very impressive string of television and film will join "Saturday Night Live" star Bowen Yang to announce this year's Academy Award nominees this week.

Rachel Sennott, of Simsbury, and Yang will read off the nominees on Thursday, Jan. 23, at 8:30 a.m. ET. The California wildfires have repeatedly delayed the announcements for weeks.

Yang is best known for his work on the weekly live comedy show, and -- fittingly -- Sennott played Rosie Shuster, wife of "SNL" creator Lorne Michaels" during the 1970s, in the 2024 film "Saturday Night," which follows the chaotic days and nights leading up to "SNL's" first episode in 1975.

Sennott grew up in Simsbury and graduated from Simsbury High School in 2014 before matriculating to NYU's Tisch School of the Arts, according to her IMDB bio.

Since leaving college, the 29-year-old has been an in-demand actress appearing on shows such as "Bottoms" and "The Idol," as well as starring in films like "Bodies Bodies Bodies" and "I Used to be Funny."
