The Philadelphia 76ers made a smart move on Saturday when it comes to undrafted rookie Justin Edwards. Signed to a two-way deal out of Kentucky, Edwards has been terrific averaging 8.1 points and 3.1 rebounds while shooting 37.5% from deep.
Coach Nick Nurse and Co. have turned to him as a starter recently as he has started seven of the 22 games he has played in. He has taken on star opponents such as LeBron James, Jayson Tatum, and others on the defensive end and has become somebody who the Sixers can constantly rely on every night.
To reward him for his work, the Sixers will convert Edwards' contract to a standard deal for the rest of the 2024-25 season. He and the Sixers will work out something long term in the offseason.
Edwards will look to continue helping the Sixers turn things around. Due to all of the injuries, he has been able to receive a look and he has taken advantage of his opportunities.
