Harry Ransom Center, 2026-2027 Fellowships

The Harry Ransom Center at the University of Texas at Austin invites applications for its 2026-2027 research fellowship program. Up to 50 fellowships will be awarded to support projects that require substantial on-site use of the Center's internationally renowned collections in all areas of the humanities, including literature, photography, film, art, the performing arts, music, and cultural history.

Fellowships are open to graduate students, current and former academic faculty at any career stage, and independent researchers -- including journalists and artists -- whose work engages deeply with archival materials. Residency lengths range from one week to two months, with stipends provided to support travel and research.

The Ransom Center's collections contain nearly 45 million literary manuscripts, one million rare books, five million photographs, and more than 100,000 works of art. The Lorne Michaels Collection, one of the latest additions to the Ransom Center archives, will be available for research starting January 2026.

Applicants are encouraged to review the individual residency types and qualifications outlined in the application instructions. The deadline to apply is November 3, 2025 (5pm CST).
